GENERIC medicines are identical or bio-equivalent to Branded medicines in dosage, form, safety, route of administration, quality, performance characteristics and intended use available today for purchase. However GENERIC medicines are sold at substantially lower prices to their identical Branded counterparts. Bharat Vikas Generic Medical Shops has been operational since two years now and have been benefitting the customers in Hyderabad, selling GENERIC medicines at lower price than the printed price (M.R.P). These are low priced however equivalent in quality compared to the Branded medicines.
Bharat Vikas Parishad Jana Seva Trust, Chennai, desired to extend the same benefits to people of Tamil Nadu (to start with Chennai), has initiated opening several Bharat Vikas Generic Medical Shops in as many areas as possible based on public welcoming and demand for the service. The first Bharat Vikas Generic Medical shop (Managed by BVPJST) is opened at No. 224 / 2A RK MUTT Road, Mandaveli, Chennai 600028. Currently it will have more than 450 types of prescribed medicines for diabetes, blood pressure (B.P.), Cardiac, Gastric, Nervous weakness (Neurology), Calcium Deficiency etc., for people to buy. BVPJST indents to channelize surplus from Bharat Vikas Generic Medical Shops to maintenance of local environment (tree plantation and mobile toilets) and a free medical van.
This Bharat Vikas Generic Medical Shop is the latest of several social service initiatives conducted by the Trust (BVPJST) for 17 years now. BVPJST’s flagship service has been offering thousands of physically handicapped people with artificial limbs (Jaipur legs now Bharat Vikas Legs) through Vikalang Seva (Handicap service Project)). We are sure our Bharat Vikas Generic Medical Shops will go a long way and help people in Tamil Nadu to reduce their monthly spends on medical expenses (Burden today for many)
